With the leaves fully changing colour with the fall season, you might have already noticed pumpkin spice everything, holiday décor and activities, and an increase in prices for those holiday flight tickets home. Another thing that comes with the change in seasons is a change in our schedules and routines. We now have more places to be and people to see than ever before and the temptations to skip the gym and go for that second slice of pie are at an all-time high. So how do we navigate this time of year without losing control and still enjoy ourselves at the same time? We come up with a plan!
What does this plan look like?
Well, this plan should look different for every individual and should be made with your goals in mind. If your goal is to stay accountable to going to the gym 4 days a week, even during those cold months coming up, make sure to find an accountability partner now to hold each other accountable, even during the holidays.
Maybe your goal is to maintain during the next couple months by sticking to your gym routine and allowing yourself a treat here and there because you know you have a lot of events coming up that involve eating out. Make a plan before you go to these events. If you know you want that slice of pumpkin pie, plan for it before you go and stick to that one slice and move on.
But what if your goal is to lose weight this holiday season; does that mean you can’t enjoy your holiday favorites?
Absolutely not. Your plan will have to incorporate some creativity and finding equally great substitutions. You love pumpkin spiced lattes? Substitute for an almond milk latte and add cinnamon on top to give you that fall taste you are looking for. Heading to a work party and a family event? Bring an option that you and your family can enjoy without worrying if you are staying on track. What I am trying to say is when we have a plan we are more likely to stick with it! So whatever your goals are this holiday season, create a plan and stick with it. The next few months will come and go so quickly, but they will have a huge impact on your goals if you are not prepared.
Happy Fall!
