On a walk this week with a friend, she told me how her health (like many people) has taken a hit during covid. "I don't know what I'm looking for to fix it but I've got to keep looking," she said. This isn't the first time I've heard this thought from members. All are looking for ways to get motivated, or stop the covid weight gain.
When I arrived home, this message was in my email from my friend Colm from TheMentalHealthPlan.com
"A lot of the time, we like to boil an issue or a problem down to one thing. Much of what keeps us healthy and happy isn’t one thing, but many small acts and habits that add up.
We don’t build muscle over one workout, or lose fat with one salad, our finances are grown through months and years of savings, and our relationships build through countless small acts and words. We forget that we're in a crisis, and blame one thing for why we’re in a bad spot.
Instead of a total solution magic bullet, what small action can move you the tiniest bit closer to where you want to be? Then repeat, and repeat. And repeat.
Anytime we commit to this slow, incremental progress approach, we’ll find we get there faster than if we waste our time looking for the magic bullet that never comes."
This weekend we kick off our Small Change Kickstart 4 week series. A habit-based approach to focusing on small efforts each day that stack up to big results. If you have been stuck in a rut, we invite you to join us. Get the details from the link below.
